Portal de Documentos (B3) migrates structure to the cloud and raises operational level with Microsoft Azure and Dedalus

The new, more robust structure raises the operational level, ensures the resilience of applications and, above all, enables a positive impact on the business with the redirection of technology resources for the generation of new products.

A leader in digital solutions with legal value, the Document Portal, a 100% initiative of B3 (formerly BMFBovespa), aims to provide digital services to the retail financial market, serves the entire credit and collection cycle for vehicles, real estate and other delinquencies, through notifications, subpoenas and electronic protests, consolidation of ownership and filing kits. The company also carries out, by digital means, the registration of contracts for properties, movable assets, equipment and documents in general.

Challenge

After being acquired by B3 in 2019, Portal de Documentos faced a challenge in the face of requirements related to market exposure in products intended for digital signatures and, above all, flows involving B3’s direct customers. In view of this, it identified the need to review its mission-critical environments and with specific flows, in order to mitigate risks of cyber attacks or unavailability for customers during operations.

“We identified that we would only be able to meet some of the compliance requirements by migrating to a more robust structure, which would reduce the fragility of attacks and bring functional improvements. Faced with this scenario, we chose to continue with a Microsoft cloud solution,” says Dariam Villela, IT director of Portal de Documentos.

Another point considered was the need to stabilize the environments and ensure the effectiveness of the operational ecosystem, both cloud and on-premise, as changes made to the codes in a given environment often ended up directly interfering in another environment.

“We have an environment of strong market exposure. With the conflict between the codes, we had recurring outages and unavailability two to three times a week, which increased the level of criticality, in addition to requiring greater management and maintenance of the entire local infrastructure”, comments Marcio Medeiros, IT Engineering manager at Portal de Documentos.

What has been proposed

After the process of evaluating the environments and analyzing all bottlenecks, the Dedalus technical team began to perform a diagnosis of application adaptation and restructuring, as well as joint action to eliminate memory demands that increased operational costs.

“After WarRoom in partnership with the Dedalus team, we restructured our infrastructure to have a more stable environment that served us in a predictive way, which gave us the availability of machines according to our demand,” explains Medeiros.

Perceived gains

According to the expert, the Document Portal now has repositories in different environments, without code conflicts or drop in availability for customer transactions.   In addition, intensive work was carried out in cost management focused on virtual machines. “We outlined a strategy of governance and replacement of machines to improve processing and ensure stability, which provided us with relevant financial savings avoiding unnecessary costs”, says the IT Engineering Manager of Portal de Documentos.

“Dedalus’ work helped us in the tooling evolution of the infrastructure we had set up. We started to control the environments and work transparently. We did the entire process of standardization, approval of QAs and evolution of the environments during office hours, without our customers suffering any impact from this”, explains Medeiros. According to the expert, another perceived gain was greater operational efficiency that directly impacted the evolution of the product.

According to Wilder Martins, Dedalus’ chief technology officer, in order for the migration to be successful, within the needs mentioned by the Document Portal, Dedalus’ team of experts closely monitored all phases of the process. “Throughout the process, we kept our team 24×7 so that everyone at the Document Portal felt safe in this migration process. Our follow-up ensured that they maintained a gradual improvement in the use of the cloud as a business-focused tool”, comments the executive.

Next steps

From the paving of the environment developed in the cloud, the Document Portal follows the journey of modularization through APIs, converting a part of the functionality of grants within the solution into microservices.

“Initially, we want to solve an issue of demand for B3 modules, and promote the integration of financial services into the different digital customer journeys, in addition to reducing the information gap between service providers, which may later favor the emergence of new models.
